Description
By Jasper Morris in 2021 (JM97)
4 barrels were made from a very low yield of 14 hl/ha coming from ancient vines, closing in on their centenary, and located in the very best part of the vineyard – Les Grands Suchots – where there is no dip in the contours. A powerful deep crimson colour. There is a wonderfully heady character to the nose, a depth of sensual fragrance which enormously outdistances all that has gone before. Splendidly open today, the faintest point of white pepper embracing the rose petals. This is very much in the more savoury style on the palate. Fruit bounds back at the spectacular finish. Exquisite long aftertaste, leaving the palate refreshed.
By Wine Advocate in 2022 (WA96+)
Lachaux’s 2019 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Grands Suchots has turned out brilliantly in bottle, wafting from the glass with a deep bouquet of rose petals, red berries, warm spices and subtle savory bass notes. Full-bodied, perfumed and multidimensional, it’s velvety and sensual, displaying immense concentration without weight, its layered core of fruit framed by lively acids and rich, powdery tannins, and concluding with a long, resonant finish.
