The 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes wafts from the glass with an inviting bouquet of orange rind, peonies, red berries and ripe cherries. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, with an enveloping attack and a generous core of ripe, sweet fruit that’s balanced by some fine, chalky tannins and lively acids. This is a youthfully head-turning bottle of Les Chaumes in the making.

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru has an understated bouquet, tightly wound with crushed stone percolating through the red berry fruit. The lightly spiced, medium-bodied palate displays an attractive grainy texture, good tension and a precise if slightly rigid finish that will soften with time. Good potential.
