Description
By Robert Parker in 2013 (RP91-93)
The 2012 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a lively bouquet with darker berried fruit than the Echezeaux – indeed, quite broody and introspective compared to some of the more outgoing examples from the hallowed clos. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannins. The acidity is nicely judged and there is a self-effacing, refined finish with hints of white pepper lingering long on the finish. This is should drink early but age deceptively long.
By Allen Meadows of Burghound in 2014 (AM90-93)
A fresh, cool and perfumed nose of mostly red currant and cherry is liberally laced with notes of earth, underbrush and oak nuances. There is a very forward, even lush palate impression to the bigger, richer and more powerful flavors that also possess fine mid-palate concentration though not necessarily better persistence. This too will need a few years of cellar time first.
