Description

By Decanter in 2017 (SB97)

From just over two hectares planted on the steepest part of the vineyard. Pungent yet elegant white peach nose displaying discreet power. Fine attack, precise and lifted, with ample fruit and a light touch. Silky and refined with a clear minerality on the finish. Not a flashy style, but tense and very long.

Given how superb the 2015 ‘regular’ Bougros is this year from Domaine Fèvre, I have very high expectations for the Côte de Bouguerots and they were not disappointed! The bouquet is deep, complex and very refined, delivering a fine constellation of green apple, pear, lime, crystalline, chalky minerality, spring flowers and a bit of flintiness in the upper register. On the palate the wine is very pure, full-bodied and utterly svelte in profile, with a rock solid ore, great cut and grip and outstanding focus on the long, pure and seamlessly balanced finish. This is young and absolutely stunning! 95+

Pale, green-tinged yellow. Subtle, discreet nose offers hints of citrus fruits, spices, white pepper and minerals. Then almost shockingly massive and powerful in the mouth, boasting bulletproof citrus and white peach flavors energized by harmonious acidity (but barely four grams per liter, according to Didier Séguier). More robust and masculine than the Preuses and drier and more bracing on the long finish, this sappy wine needs time to harmonize. But as with all of these 2015s, there’s nothing hard about this grand cru.

By Wine Advocate in 2017 (WA93)

The 2015 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros Cote de Bouguerots was the standout wine when I tasted the range of William Fevre from barrel. Now in bottle, the nose has closed down, but there remains a brooding intensity here and superb mineralité. The palate is very well balanced with a touch of orange zest and quince on the entry. There is a keen line of acidity here and quite a powerful finish that lingers long in the mouth. Give this three or four years in bottle and it should offer another ten years of drinking pleasure.
