Description
By Wine Advocate in April 2012
Deeply colored. Youthful, brooding aromas never really open fully, but we like the ripe dark berry fruit, spice, and minerals. On the palate, the 2008 is quite similar to the 2007 as it is another huge, dense, sweet, and meaty wine. There is the now familiar Sassicaia elegance with very good acidity. However, the alcohol was prominent, and we hear a complaint that the 2008 is “over-done, too much.” Clearly, this bold, tannic wine needs time to evolve. Satisfying length, with a little heat at the end.
