Congratulations to Champagne De Venoge with their Louis XV 1996 which received a Gold medal at The World’s Finest Glass of Bubbly awards 2017.

A panel of 36 top industry wine judges tasted all the entries for 2017 and were able to not only scores wines with medals, but also place them in to easy to understand categories such as Vintage: “Serious wine with highly complex aromas and a lengthy taste explosion of many layers. usually will offer a toasty tasting experience, deep golden colour and fine bubbles”

If you have ever walked on Avenue de Champagne in Epernay then you will no doubt have also drooled over the splendid property of some of the world’s most famous Champagne labels. As you walk up the avenue you will see Champagne de Venoge’s amazing property on your left and I have been very fortunate to have had a tour of the property and a fabulous tasting of their Champagne. Now their Louis XV 1996 is a Champagne that I would stick my neck out to say that it is a must taste for any enthusiast – It holds such wonderful vintage aromas and flavours, a taste to die for.

This is really complex, old Champagne with puff-pastry, dried-apple, spice and salted-nut aromas and flavors. Full body. Ultra fine bubbles with an extremely fine and creamy mouth feel. Extreme edge to it. This spent 21 years on the lees. Disgorged in 2018. Every year they disgorge 3,000 bottles.

Hints of oyster shell and truffle mark the age of this satiny Champagne, but there’s still enough well-knit acidity to keep this fresh, focusing the subtle notes of toasted almond, dried golden currant, fleur de sel and crystallized honey. Distinctive. Drink now through 2019. 500 cases made.
