Description
By Allen Meadows of Burghound in 2020 (AM93)
A more restrained nose features ripe aromas of both white and yellow orchard fruit, and in particular white peach and apricot, along with wisps of citrus peel and acacia blossom. There is once again a succulent and seductive mouthfeel to the bigger-bodied flavors that possess an abundance of sappy dry extract before terminating in a powerful and impressively persistent finish. Like several of the wines in the range, the 2018 Bâtard would benefit from developing more depth but given the probable aging curve, that should be feasible.
