Description
By Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate in 2011 (RP95)
The Batard is much more expressive and vivacious on the nose than the Bienvenue, with touches of pear, Granny Smith apples and wet limestone. The palate is well balanced with very fine acidity, crisp green fruit, very good weight and well poised towards the persistent finish. Very refined and classy.
By Allen Meadows of Burghound (AM93)
The overtly ripe orchard fruit nose of white and yellow peach and pear is liberally sprinkled with lemon nuances that continue onto the round, rich and generous big-bodied flavors that are very Bâtard in character and finish with a lovely sense of harmony and intensity. Overall, this is quite powerful if less refined than the Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet and represents a qualitative choice.
