Description
By Allen Meadows of Burghound in 2015 (AM91-94)
There is enough reduction present to push the underlying fruit to the background. By contrast there is lovely freshness to the delicious if quite virile medium weight plus flavors that possess both good power and punch, all wrapped in a moderately austere and impressively persistent finish. This should be at its best 12 to 15 years hence.
By Wine Spectator in 2016 (WS92)
A firm, tensile red, with black cherry, berry, spice and earth flavors, supported by muscular tannins on the finish. Though rustic, this has intensity and a long, spicy aftertaste. Best from 2018 through 2032
By Robert Parker in 2016 (RP91)
Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a much better nose than those from Vougeraie and Méo-Camuzet, offering red plum, raspberry preserve, rose petals and hints of sage in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannin, redcurrant and cranberry fruit, nicely focused with a strict and linear, yet intense finish. Give this another 2-3 years in bottle and you will have a fine Clos de Vougeot.
