Description
By Robert Parker in 2005 (RP92)
Even better from bottle than from cask, and one of the finest wines of the vintage, this dense purple-colored 2002 reveals wonderfully sweet notes of charcoal, fresh mushrooms, smoke, earth, leather, cassis, and cedar. Full-bodied, highly extracted, broodingly backward, dense, and deep, this impressively endowed offering is built for the long term.
By Steve Tanzer in 2005 (ST91)
Good deep ruby-red. Complex nose melds black cherry, cedar, graphite, menthol and chocolate. Cool, penetrating flavors of blue and black fruits, minerals, licorice and menthol, with hints of chocolatey ripeness. Rather laid-back Bordeaux , with the structure for mid-term aging. Finishes with firm but fine tannins and lovely length.
